HealthyWage review: six to eighteen months of payments
Name a goal, pick a monthly amount, then wait. HealthyWage asks for the longest commitment of any money-on-your-goal app we have looked at.
How the HealthyWager works
You tell the calculator how much weight you want to lose, choose a window between 6 and 18 months, and pick how much to bet per month, anywhere from $5 to $200. Their formula turns that into a prize.
You can pay monthly or in one payment, and weights are checked by an at-home video at the start and the end. There is also a Team Challenge where teams of five compete for a $10,000 top prize.
What you are actually risking
The window is the part to sit with. Take their own inputs: $50 a month for 12 months is $600 of your money staked before you find out whether any of it comes back. Miss the goal and the payments are gone.
“Win up to $10,000” is a ceiling. What you are offered comes out of their formula, against your goal and your stake.
Who should commit for a year
Someone with one large weight target and the patience for a year-long commitment, who wants a single decision to hold them to it.
If the thing you keep skipping is a Tuesday morning run, a twelve-month weight wager is a strange instrument to fix it with. The feedback arrives a year after the run you missed.
