Payout Calculator

i Fee and payout mechanics current as of August 16, 2026. The formulas below are the ones the app uses — nothing rounded in our favor.

Every payout on RunMatch is arithmetic you can check: runners × stake = pot, winner takes it all, and the only fee is 3% when you withdraw. Set your numbers and see exactly what you'd walk away with — and exactly what you'd lose, because that half of the math matters just as much.

If you lose: −$20 — your stake goes to the winner, a friend you invited. Not to RunMatch.

RunMatch's only fee is 3% when you withdraw — nothing is taken from the pot. For contrast: StepBet takes roughly 15% of the gross pot before finishers split it, per their published rules and reviews.

Mechanics

How the payouts work

Racing friends

Racing friends: everyone stakes the same amount, so the pot is simply runners × stake. Win, and the whole pot is yours — five friends at $20 each is a $100 pot, and withdrawing it nets $97 after the 3% fee, a $77 profit on your own $20. Lose, and your stake goes to whoever won. There's no house cut of the pot at any point.

$97
withdrawn from a $100 pot — a $77 profit on a $20 stake

Solo goals

Solo goals: you stake your own money on your own commitment. Hit it and the stake stays yours (withdrawing nets 97 cents on the dollar). Miss it and the stake transfers to a designated recipient you picked before starting — a friend, your sister, anyone — less any applicable fees. RunMatch never keeps a missed stake; the full mechanics are on our "is this legit" page.

97¢
on the dollar when you withdraw a kept stake

All runs are GPS-verified through Strava, payments run on Stripe, and withdrawals go out via Stripe Connect in roughly 3–7 business days.

Does RunMatch take a cut of the pot?
