Three competition formats every run club can use

📏

Weekly Most Miles

The classic run club move. Pick a 7-day window, everyone runs as much as they can, the highest weekly mileage wins. Perfect for marathon training blocks.

🔥

Monthly Streak

Hit your daily distance every single day for 30 days. Miss one and you're out. Holds the whole club accountable to consistent running.

🏁

Race To Distance

First member to hit a benchmark — 50 miles, 100 miles, a marathon — wins the pot. Great for ramping up training intensity.

Why run clubs love RunMatch

Most run club apps are about logging miles and posting routes. RunMatch is about actually showing up. When real money is on the line, no one skips the morning run. Trash talk gets settled. The flakes get filtered out. The crew that's actually committed rises to the top.

For training groups

Marathon and half-marathon training blocks are brutal. A Streak or Most Miles competition keeps your crew on plan. The pot stays inside the group — it's just a clean way to enforce accountability.

For weekly run crews

Make Tuesday Track or Saturday Long Run mean something. Spin up a 7-day comp before the run, lock in $10 each, and let the leaderboard decide.

For college and university clubs

Cross-country and recreational running clubs use RunMatch to keep training groups engaged through the season. Captain sets it up, members join, club organizes the prize structure however they want.

How to start a run club competition

Frequently asked questions

Can I use RunMatch for my run club?

Absolutely. RunMatch is built for run clubs. Spin up a weekly Most Miles competition or a monthly Streak challenge for your whole crew, and the winner takes the pot.

How big can a run club competition get?

There's no upper limit. We've supported competitions from 2 friends to 200+ club members. Pots scale linearly — the bigger the group, the bigger the prize.

How do members join a run club competition?

Share the 6-character invite code. Members enter it in the app, lock their buy-in if there is one, and they're in the lobby until the comp starts.

Do all members need Strava?

Yes — Strava integration is required to verify runs. It's a free app and a one-time connect step.

Can the club organizer set the rules?

Yes. The creator picks the format (Race, Most Miles, or Streak), distance/duration, buy-in, and start time. Members just join and run.
